The Sustaining Project Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing sustainability initiatives within our organization, providing technical leadership for these plans. The role involves working across departments to plan environmentally beneficial impacts with measurable results, creating and supporting manufacturing processes that reduce waste, resource consumption, and improve efficiency. The manager will develop and monitor key performance indicators and produce sustainability program reports, ensuring conformance to standards, regulations, and customer expectations. This position typically oversees several projects simultaneously and is based onsite in Reno, Nevada. Sustainability Strategy Development Establish a campus-wide environmental mission statement and set of goals, translating these into a comprehensive sustainability program. Create sustainability plans evaluated by an Environmental Impact Assessment. Work towards ISCC+ certification, aiming for product release by July 2025, and maintain this certification through audits and systems implementation, possibly including a carbon footprint reduction goal. Investigate, propose, and implement recycling programs, including post-consumer tip material, company-wide corrugated recovery, and pallet salvage systems. Collaborate with facilities to review resource efficiency, energy use, and explore renewable energy options. Review water use, disposal methods, and building efficiencies, including heating, cooling, and lighting systems. Coordinate with logistics to optimize supply chain waste reduction and shipping efficiency, including exploring electric vehicle options. Create employee training programs to foster engagement and ownership of sustainability initiatives. Facilitate the development of sustainability-related policies across departments. Develop systems to communicate Hamilton’s sustainability efforts to customers and third-party rating agencies. Calculate and report greenhouse gas emissions to stakeholders. Develop and deploy sustainability KPIs and reporting mechanisms. Stay informed on industry trends related to sustainability and develop strategies to meet upcoming regulations and customer expectations. Assist in obtaining environmental management system certifications as needed. Qualifications and Skills Excellent written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of product design, manufacturing, cost management, and cause/effect relationships. Strong personality with self-assertion, diplomacy, and team orientation. Leadership ability, decision-making skills, and change facilitation experience. Proficiency in data and statistical analysis. Physical and Educational Requirements Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally; predominantly sedentary work. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field from an accredited institution. Minimum of 5 years' experience in an engineering discipline, preferably related to the company's product areas.
