SUMMARY

The Office Assistant 1 (Stores/Mail) will assist the Office Assistant 2 (Stores/Mail) with the duties in Central Stores, which is the campus warehouse. This person will be responsible for clerical and laboring job duties.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions:
  • Providing customer service to Central Stores customers
  • Documenting withdrawn materials
  • Assembling custodial supply orders
  • Receiving stock items into the warehouse and putting them away in their designated locations
  • Receiving special ordered items and notifying employees of their arrival
  • Restocking items in warehouse
  • Operates battery-operated forklift as needed
  • Enters receivers into e-Procurement system
Non-Essential Functions:
  • Backup to assist Shipping and Receiving, as needed
  • Backup to OA2 (Stores/Mail) p-card ordering, as needed

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).

For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a noncompetitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.

At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments. Once the NY HELPS program is officially launched, if a temporary NY HELPS employee is satisfactorily performing in the position, the appointment will be changed from temporary pending Civil Service Commission Action to permanent non-competitive and the official probationary period will begin.

At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (NY HELPS):
There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this title.

COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (NON-NY HELPS):
Candidates must have permanent appointment in an Office Assistant 1 (Stores/Mail) NY State classified position or be reachable for appointment on the current NY State Civil Service eligible list for Office Assistant 1 (Stores/Mail) Full-Time, Brockport location.

Work Schedule:

40 hours/week: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm
