Job Description

The Network Records Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of network asset data within the organization's systems. This role involves interpreting design plans, updating records, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain high-quality data that supports day-to-day design, restoration, and operational activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Management & System Updates:
  • Interpret design plans and construction drawings to extract pertinent information such as cable routes, slack, splice locations, and more.
  • Update the system of record based on findings, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Handle help desk tickets by modifying records, considering the downstream impacts of changes, and engaging internal cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate updates.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Interact with end users to determine the best solutions for modifying database records.
  • Work with external Dig-Safe agencies to resolve questions, verify data, and update state systems accordingly.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance:
  • Execute quality checks on data to ensure asset integrity and resolve conflicts to maintain compliance.
  • Monitor and verify data changes to ensure adherence to company standards and procedures.
  • Technical Support & Training:
  • Provide technical support to internal teams, including Engineering, field teams, and Change Management, via phone, email, or helpdesk tickets.
  • Assist in training new team members on data management processes and tools.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Experience:
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in the telecommunications field with database inputting and management.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Experience with GIS mapping applications such as MapInfo, OSPI, QGIS, or other relevant programs.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD for interpreting design plans and construction drawings.
  • Other Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to plan for and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of OSP/ISP fiber environments is a plus.
  • Knowledge of relational databases is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with significant data entry across multiple tracking and documentation systems.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer.

Work Environment:

  • Office-based position with occasional field visits as required.
  • Collaborative team environment with cross-functional interactions.
