  • Our cases go to trial. Only one of 20 cases in our firm's plea. This is a position for creative, client-centered, fast thinkers who want to try cases
  • Every attorney in the firm works as a case team with at least one other attorney and a paralegal to maximize efficiency, sharing of ideas, and client communication

This job is not for you if you are not comfortable in Court or have no desire to be in Court. Most clients are falsely accused, and creative, zealous written and verbal advocacy skills are a must.

Compensation:

$100,000 - $120,000 base + bonuses

Responsibilities:
  • Interface with clients and manage case deadlines.
  • Draft motions, pleadings, memorandum, discovery demands and responses, correspondence, etc.
  • Respect and support the team that supports you.
  • Handle all aspects of criminal law cases from inception through completion.
  • Work side-by-side with an experienced trial preparation paralegal;
  • Lead and delegate to your support team to provide the best possible representation for clients.
  • Client interface and meetings.
  • Manages cases from inception through trial.
  • Strategic thinking to zealously advocate for all clients.
  • Handling all aspects of the case from arraignment through trial preparation, including focus groups, mock trials, working with national experts, and leading investigators;
  • Legal research and writing with the assistance of Westlaw.

Qualifications:
  • Admission to the Michigan State Bar is required.
  • Federal Experience is preferred but not required.
  • The ideal candidate is goal-oriented, kind, empathetic, and energetic, with a strong desire for success.
  • 3 years of practice or equivalent legal experience,
  • 5 jury trials, mock trials, moot court, or law review experiences.
  • Trial experience or formal trial training is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Superb customer service skills are expected.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for this role.
  • A positive attitude is highly valued.
  • The candidate should be able to analyze, collaborate, and implement trial strategies to achieve client goals.
  • Ability to travel throughout the State of Michigan for cases and throughout the US for training
